28 Apr Among The Crowd
Hey! Welcome back! It’s Wednesday, the weekend and good times are just around the corner. It’s been a great first half of the week for me. I had the day off work today so I could go to the dentist and catch up on some things around the house. Today was also the first time cutting the grass for the year. I was reluctant to do any mowing mostly because my garden tractor is basically shot. My property is bumpy with lots of little hills and my poor tractor took a beating the last 4 years. It was a tough call, but I decided to upgrade and I’m so glad I did. The new tractor is great and it did an excellent job mowing through some really heavy and thick grass! Mowing should be much more enjoyable this year!
1. Before the dentist and buying a new tractor, I started my day as usual at 04:00am with my normal online activities. Today I focused on strengthening my email marketing campaigns, creating new sales pages, and connecting with new marketing providers. It’s always a special morning when I’m home on a school day because I have the privilege of sharing breakfast with the kids and taking them to the bus stop. It’s no often I get to share those moments with them and each day passes faster than the last. My success will be realized when I no longer need to exchange those moments for a paycheck.
The way I think about going to work has certainly changed, but I’m grateful for the life it has afforded me. However, I never really considered why I chose to exchange my time for money. I simply replicated the habits of my role models, and accepted the practice of dollars for hours. It was normal to see people around me rise up as they worked harder and harder. Unknowingly, I was socially programmed to behave exactly the same way. I had become a part of the crowd, and the information I was receiving was congruent with my environment.
2. When I look back on my childhood and early teen years, I realize that I wasn’t making attempts to seek information that would help me rise above my environment. This is mostly due to the fact that I had everything I needed. I had a loving family and money was usually not an issue. Because of this, I aspired to be just like those around me and provide the same stability for a family of my own. It was the socially acceptable thing to do! So that’s exactly what I did. I learned a trade and exchanged my time for wages. And as a result, I became a member in the crowd. I joined the masses and I was surely on the road to success. But as the years have gone by, and my life matures, my wants and needs have dramatically changed. Because I have positioned myself among the masses, the results I demand will require massive action and an endless pursuit of new information.
3. Until now, I didn’t seek out new information. My complacency and social blueprint had me convinced that I was achieving at the highest levels within my community. Now, through my own due diligence and the discovery of great mentors, I have life changing information available to me 24/7. I didn’t realize this wealth of information existed because I wasn’t ready for it. Now I see it everywhere! Once I changed my focus, I was able to see everything that’s been hiding in plain sight all along. Since the beginning, I only searched for solutions to avoid pain, struggle, and inconvenience. If I had been searching for solutions to achieve more pleasure, perhaps we wouldn’t be sharing this blog together. “We are what we focus on.” I encourage you to seek out information that will help you move closer to your goals and further from negativity. Consider the current sources of your information and if it’s for you, or the crowd.
Be yourself, trust your instincts, and feed your mind with new and inspiring information!
Cheers to your success!
