28 Apr Acts of Generosity
Welcome back! Happy Saturday! I hope you had a great night and I’m sure you will be out enjoying this beautiful spring day.
Yesterday was incredible. Right from the start, I knew it would be a birthday to remember. I am so grateful for all the people in my life. Each year that passes, I fortify meaningful relationships with family, friends, and even those who I do business with. It is a privilege to know such genuine and altruistic human beings that eagerly strive to positively impact the life of someone other than themselves. Yesterday was one of the best days of my life, and it will be my pleasure to share it with you!
1. It all began with an early trip to the barber. I look forward to these visits more and more as the conversations have developed to be of such high quality. We had a couple good laughs and talked about the books we were reading. In a lot of ways, we hold each other accountable between appointments by reporting on our progress and if our goals have been met or modified. After a great exchange, he let me know the cut was on the house! I was stunned. I know it may seem trivial, but for me it was huge. I didn’t see it coming and when it happened, I couldn’t get the words out to express how much I actually appreciated the gesture. If he happens to read this I’d want him to know that such things are not forgotten. Thank you!
2. I left the barber shop and drove to the bank to finalize some lending documents. All went smooth and the lending was approved. At that point I was well ahead of schedule and contemplated washing my truck in preparation for my dinner plans. Because a clean vehicle is a pet peeve of mine, I decide to call my buddies at the detail shop to see if they could squeeze my truck in for a wash. They picked up right away and told me come by around 3:00pm. Awesome, now the day is really going my way. A free hair cut, no fuss at the bank, and my truck will be clean for dinner! So, I dropped the truck off and did some light shopping with my wife and daughter to pass some time. Once back at the detail shop, I was rewarded yet again, this time with a free truck wash. Unbelievable. Now things are really starting to compound on each other.
3. Sushi is my favorite meal, and I was looking forward to this dinner for weeks. As you can imagine, it didn’t disappoint. I was surrounded by my best friends, my grandmother, my uncle, and my mother and step father. When it came time to order, I was pleasantly surprised with the availability of fatty tuna. Again, things are just rolling my way. While we waited for our food, everyone had the opportunity to share some laughs, catch up on the new, and reminisce on the past. Finally, the sushi hit the table and the conversations really dialed down. Chop sticks were busy feeding and sharing the sushi across table and I finally had the pleasure of my fatty tuna! I briefly paused in the midst of the feeding frenzy to absorb the love and friendship that had congregated around me. As the sushi began to dwindle, I was once again surprised when a glowing cheesecake was presented to me with my favorite toppings. The song was initiated and the candles extinguished upon its close. I hadn’t felt that special in a very long time.
What a day. I couldn’t have predicted a single aspect of it. I am truly grateful for all the people in my life and all the things they did to make my birthday extra special. I believe we are what we repeatedly do, and I realize now that I have repeatedly surrounded myself with a community of family and friends that support and appreciate me for who I am. I am eternally grateful for these relationships and they ways they have impacted my life!
If you haven’t done so already, focus on surrounding yourself with those who will support you for who you are and what you aim to accomplish. This has and will always be the cornerstone of my results!
Cheers to your Success.
