Rain Out

Rain Out

Good evening! I hope that your week is going great so far. Here in Pennsylvania, spring has definitely arrived. Rainy days are upon us, but so is the warmer weather that comes with it. I don’t know about you, but I was ready for winter to pass. I think it was much milder this winter compared to years past, but there’s just something liberating about the transition into spring that makes closing out the winter season a real pleasure. However, spring rains can occasionally cause a stoppage in my regular outdoor work. These days are referred to as “rain days” or “rain out” days. Usually, this results no pay, unless there’s something you can do safely all day to get a full day’s pay.

1. Up until lately, I hated the thought of raining out and potentially missing a day worth of income on my paycheck. I can say now, mostly due to the fact that I never take any time off, that I wouldn’t mind an unusually wet spring. Being home during the week means making breakfast for the kids before they are off to school, and then a peaceful cup of coffee with my wife after they’ve gone. I’m not saying I don’t depend on my 40 hours, I’m just saying those rare occasions that I am home to be a part of their morning routines is so awesome. I can’t wait for the time in my life when I am able to share every part of their day. I want to visit them for lunch at school (not likely during a health crisis) and do the things I wouldn’t normally get to do when I am trading my time away for a paycheck. So, bring it in spring. I’ll make the best of whatever you throw at me.

2. Additional benefits of being home during the day also extend into my physical life and complement my goals to stay in shape. Rushing home to workout, stretch, shower, eat, help clean up the dinner mess, work on my business, and get in some quality reading time will start to feel like a grind and any leniences to that routine are always welcomed! I know I’m not the only person that has to cope with these sorts of challenges, and I know I’m not the only person that triumphs over the hardships of maintaining the dexterity of their home life while excelling physically. These things take time. I just find ways to make it work. Sometimes it flat out sucks employing strict fitness and health habits, but I know that these habits are at the root of my successes or failures. I’ve said it before, I truly believe that if I can’t help myself then there’s not much I can do to help anyone else. By staying true to my health and fitness goals, I physically reaffirm to the universe that I am capable and willing to receive anything I focus on. So, if you’re already improving yourself physically, keep going! Embrace the suck with enthusiasm! And if you’ve been thinking about physical improvement, I encourage you to take action and lean into the fears you have that keep you from accomplishing your physical goals. I promise, once you commit, it gets easier and you will learn to embrace it too!

3. Obviously, the more time I have at home the more I am able to capitalize on the goals I have for my business without sacrificing precious time with family. I am always looking for opportunities to maximize my time in both areas. I affirm to myself every day, “I always think both”. Meaning, I can have my cake and eat it too (as if there is something else I would do with cake). Some of the steps I take to make sure I am always moving closer to both of these goals are; waking up at 04:00 am to spend time on my business and training, substituting my phone with books/podcasts, and reading or blogging instead of TV. This all may sound crazy, and you may be wondering why I’m doing these things. For me, these are the necessary steps to recondition and train my mind to stay hyper-focused on achieving my goals and dreams. I willing to do these things and continue to look inward every day for more ways to improve myself so that I can improve the lives of others!

To sum things up, I had a lot of time to my thoughts today. I took some serious strides to grow my business and I reflected on those decisions. Because of all the mental and physical conditioning I’ve endured, my subconscious pushed me closer to the fire I have burning inside and led me to act on what may be a turning point in my business. I believe that big things are coming, and I’m going to work my ass off to make sure I’m on the receiving end!

I hope you have a great tomorrow and I look forward to sharing more with you then!

Cheers to your success!
