28 Apr The Journeyman Entrepreneur: Prologue
….And we’re blogging. Welcome to the first installment of my daily blog! Today’s focus will be to give you a good idea of who I am, what I do, and what my goals are for this blog and in life. I’m excited to have you here with me and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with you!
1. My name is Jordan Roscoe. At the time of writing this, I am 30 years old, married to my best friend, and father of two exceptionally special children. I was born and raised, and still currently reside, in south central Pennsylvania roughy one hour north of Baltimore, MD. My life growing up was…pretty normal. I did all the routine things that kids do with mostly good experiences. I was a multi sport athlete throughout my school years, and then finally committed exclusively to wrestling in my freshman year of high school. You could say that wrestling was, and still is, most of my foundation. I learned so much about who I am mentally, physically, and emotionally and what I was capable of achieving on and off the mat. I am proud to say that I now have the privilege of mentoring my son as he ventures into the early years of his wrestling career. That’s what I call a proud dad moment! Now I know how my father and my uncle must have felt when I laced up my shoes up for the first time. So cool. I won’t harp on that too much here, lets move on.
2. At this time, I am currently a member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 777 in transfer to Local 126 Pennsylvania. For the last ten years I have been mastering the craft of outdoor Overhead Electric Distribution. To explain this a bit more simply, I build and maintain the electric wood pole structures you see along roadways, in backyards, and in right of ways. I drive a bucket truck, climb poles, dig holes, and turn the lights back on when the wind blows. I take great pride in my craft and I will always be a Lineman at heart. I owe much to my trade, my Union, and the many men who have shed a great deal of knowledge and experience onto me. It’s a tough job, but it is extremely rewarding. Like any other job, there are good days, bad days, really bad days, vacation days, coworkers you look forward to seeing everyday, coworkers you avoid, bad bosses, good bosses, and great bosses. I have had a medley of them all and I look forward to sharing with you each of these instances. Currently, I am very happy over all with my present work life. We all get a long, we get a ton of work done, and the boss is a pretty easy going reasonable guy. We are going to explore the life of a Journeyman Lineman in much more depth in later installments.
3. By now, if you are still reading this, you are probably saying to yourself, “Ok Jordan, get to the point!” And so I shall. My purpose is to take you along on my journey as a Journeyman Lineman made Entrepreneur. I want to share with you how I manage being a Lineman full time (50+ hours a week), a husband, a father, an athlete (for my own fitness), and an entrepreneur. I want to show my viewers, and anyone that I can reach, that you can accomplish anything you actually set your sights on. I want to share with you all the things that positively affect me physically, personally, and professionally. I have massive goals to meet that will require massive amounts of effort. I have reached a state of mind that I believe will carry me to a new plane of achievement where all things are possible.
So, thanks for stopping by and taking an interest in me and my life. Be sure to sign up for my email list so that I can let you know when I have new content to share. I am really looking forward to the journey ahead and sharing with you all things of The Journeyman Entrepreneur!
