Weekend Wrap Up

Weekend Wrap Up

Good Morning/Day/Evening Everyone! It is 05:40am here and I am super excited to get the day started. I won’t lie, getting out of bed today was tough, but the dog gave me the nudge I needed as he needed to go outside at 04:00am… Now he is curled up in a ball on the couch sleeping like a baby. I am so fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time to cross paths with my black lab/collie Dexter. We adopted him as a puppy from the SPCA and he is a perfect fit in all of our lives. Our bond is tight, like really tight. I depend on him more than he knows. I guess the cliche stands true. Anyway, I’ll be continuing to work on the layout and preparations of the new chicken coop and the 24×18 run. I would like to get all the holes down, poles set, and even start framing the run today. I will have to work like a mad man, but it can be done. I will be taking a break from the action around lunch time to go visit the sweetest and most loving woman on the planet, my grandmother. She has been the rock in my life from day one. I owe her more than I can repay. So, I have quite the day ahead…let’s get started!

1. Before I get started on my daily activities, I’ll be spending some time setting my frame of mind. I like to start each day with some inspiration whether it be from, my books, my training modules, podcasts, or meditating after reciting my daily affirmations. I have found it incredibly useful to start and finish each day by tapping into my thoughts and getting control of how I think. This could just be 15 mins of reading, or 10 mins of meditation after reciting my affirmations. This practice allows me to start the day with the right attitude. And that attitude sets me up to be in complete command of my day. I like to use Rory Vaden’s advice from the book Take The Stairs, “Success is rented, and the rent is due EVERYDAY.” This quote resonates with me on such a high level! I can apply it to every single aspect of my life. Lately, I have leaned heavily on this concept financially. I have established how much my daily rent is, and I pass it along to my savings accounts, credit card debts, and vacation funds. This practice has transformed how I manage my money. I am looking forward to the day that I get to shake Rory’s hand and thank him for being such an inspiration in my life. So, whats your rent for the day?

2. Now that my head is right, its time to work on my business! Everyday, I am learning new marketing techniques that will allow me to be a more effective communicator. By implementing the strategies covered in my lessons, I am able to establish systems that help automate what would be rather time consuming activities. The more I am able to leverage these systems, the more I will be able to work on things like promoting my blog, promoting my brand, and getting the YouTube channel up and running. I know how powerful social media can be for a business, and I need to shorten my learning curve. I’ll admit, I suck at FaceBook and the like. I literally need FaceBook for dummies. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve attempted to post something and either screwed it up, or couldn’t figure it out. So I gave up. That needs correcting. So, if you have FaceBook, Instagram, and YouTube 101 tips for a rookie…I’m in need of your services! I digress. I feel very good about the progress I made today optimizing and systematizing my current campaigns. The results are within tolerable specs, and the sky is the limit. I challenge myself everyday to be creative and ask myself, “how can I get this done?” “what actions are necessary to implement something new?”. By asking yourself questions like this, you eliminate the “easy out”. Meaning, you’ve set yourself up to accomplish whats in front of you by getting creative to reach a solution. Thinking about it, simply isn’t enough. Take action now! I promise you that it is the most personally rewarding feeling there is! Pay days are good too!

3. Around the house, I didn’t get as far with the skid steer/chicken coop operation as I had hoped. I took a break in the middle of the day to visit my grandmother for lunch, and I stopped by my mother’s house for a bit too. I recognize that in the last few years, I have let a lot of unimportant activities get in the way of my family time. I am making hard strides to get that ship back on course. Being free from alcohol has helped a great deal with prioritizing in general, and I am always open to having that discussion if you would like to hear it. So, because of the mid day hiatus, I was only able to get the holes dug and the brush pile burned. But my son Jackson did get to help out for a while and he thought it was pretty funny to point and yell where I should dig. I’ll admit, he was a great little helper today and he really made me proud. Every year he gets a little older, he wants to be a little more like dad. Maybe in a few years he will be the one operating the equipment…look out! So all in all, I am happy with the progress I made and I completed everything I NEEDED to do with the skid steer. I’ll keep you posted as that project progresses.

And finally, I’m back here. Ready to wrap it up for the night. I hope you had a great weekend and got to enjoy some of this nice spring weather. I’m going to knock out a few lessons, read 15-30mins, and do some stretching before I lay my head down. As always, thanks for being a part of the Journey. I hope you enjoyed this weekend’s content. Starting tomorrow, you will get to hear about my day job. Don’t worry, it’s always interesting!

Til then, cheers to your success!
